MY JOURNEY IN SEO FOR GOOGLE

The first time I ever used SEO was at the family business. This company, dedicated to printing t-shirts and promotional products, was my starting point in SEO for Google — here I ran a very simple SEO strategy, along with small optimizations to meta tags and URLs, pretty basic SEO stuff if you think about it.

MARKETING AGENCY

SMALL

Once I could apply my first SEO knowledge, I got a job as an SEO analyst at a small agency with lots of room to learn.

• SEO strategy: I got to develop different strategies for companies across all kinds of sectors, including: media, e-commerce, and dealerships.
• SEO audits: with tools like Semrush, Google Analytics, and Google Search Console, I ran audits to understand a site’s status and take different improvement actions.
• SEO optimizations: these optimizations were a bit broader, from meta tags to H tags, site structure, and more.
• Reports: with Google Data Studio I built SEO reports for different clients, giving an overview from the 3 main tools (Google Analytics, GSC, and Semrush).

Duration: 9 months

MULTINATIONAL MARKETING AGENCY

In my next role, I worked as an SEO analyst at another digital marketing agency but… what was different compared to the previous agency? Basically the size and the different processes involved. This agency is much bigger, so processes are split up more across areas and sub-areas.

• SEO guidance: at this agency we supported several companies on their SEO status, giving them advice and better ways to carry out actions on their website.
• SEO actions carried out: meta tag optimization, content hierarchy, website structure, URLs, content, keyword research, Open Graph protocol, alt text, load-time optimizations, UX optimizations, design optimizations.

Note: here I also carried out the tasks listed in the previous point.

Duration: 11 months

IN HOUSE

Currently, I work as a Senior SEO Specialist at an in-house company.

This has been my first experience doing pure SEO for a single company across its different locations at a LatAm level.

• SEO guidance: here I mainly carry out on-site and technical optimizations, ensuring the best performance on Google’s search engine primarily. I also carry out optimizations to ensure the best crawling of the site on Google and to maximize visibility in LLMs.
• SEO actions carried out: meta tag optimization, content hierarchy, website structure, URLs, content, keyword research, Open Graph protocol, alt text, load-time optimizations, UX optimizations, A/B testing.
• ASO optimizations: here I work on optimizing downloads and organic visibility both on Google Play and the App Store, with A/B testing as a core pillar.

MY JOURNEY IN SEO FOR YOUTUBE

YOUTUBE CHANNELS

My experience in SEO started out very self-taught, with my main gaming channel called CONKER. On this channel I started developing a strategy to generate organic traffic, reaching up to 70% of total traffic this way.

After that, I created a YouTube channel for EL JOSEO — a channel where I post SEO and marketing tutorials for the digital world. I also focused it heavily on organic traffic, getting a moderate flow of traffic on this channel as well.
